DM-Galsteen

DM-Galsteen is a two player map for Unreal Tournament 3 that I built over a week’s time. I designed the level as a “get-well” card for a friend. There’s a hidden message, if you know how to find it.

Usually when I design a level, I try to explore or respond to ideas from my previous works or my predecessors’. Here, however, the level almost self-assembled. There are only a few elements I can trace back, and they are all aesthetic.

The aesthetic inspiration for the level was Alan Willard’s DM-Zeto for Unreal Tournament 1999. The symbols on the artificial lights similar to the characters in Fez, but their meaning is not shared.
